2 December 2020 – BBC Look North – Policing the two tier system
Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, said:
“Stopping the spread of coronavirus in our communities is vital which is why I fully support North Yorkshire Police’s approach to trying to keep people safe. Government advice is clear – those in tier 3 locations should avoid travelling outside of their area, other than where absolutely necessary – and it is right that we should be encouraging everyone to follow that.
“Over the past nine months, police officers and staff have engaged, explained and encouraged and only enforced as a last resort and that will continue to be the approach taken – an approach I know the majority in North Yorkshire support.”
