YOUR rights to inspect OUR accounts 2020

Notice is given that any persons interested have a right to inspect the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2020.

North Yorkshire Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner (Fire & Rescue Authority)

NOTICE is given that from 25 June 2020 to 5 August 2020 between 9.00 am and 4.30 pm any persons interested may inspect and make copies of the accounts of the above named Authority for the period ended 31 March 2020 and the supporting documents thereto. This right can be found in the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 (‘the Act’).

The Act also provides any persons interested, or any journalist, with the right to inspect the accounting records and all related documents for that financial year.

The accounts will be available for inspection at the offices at which they are normally kept, or otherwise by arrangement. Application should be made initially to Clare Godfrey, Head of Finance, Service Headquarters, Alverton Court, Crosby Road, Northallerton, DL6 1FE.

NOTICE is also given that from 25 June 2020 to 5 August 2020, any local government elector, or representative of the elector, is given the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounting records for the same financial year, and make objection to the auditor if it concerns:

  • a matter of which the auditor could make a report in the public interest under Section 24 of the Act; or
  • an item of account in respect of which the auditor could apply for a declaration that the item is unlawful under section 28 of the Act.

The rights to inspect the accounts and relevant accounting records have been amended as confirmed by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government under the Accounts and Audit (coronavirus) Amendments Regulations 2020 (SI 2020/404).

The amended regulation has moved the publication date of the statutory accounts to 30 November 2020 from 31 July 2020. The public inspection period will commence on or before 1 September 2020 and this date will be advertised on the PFCC’s website.
