Championing ‘local justice’

Creating an effective and efficient local criminal justice system

As well as having responsibility for oversight of North Yorkshire Police, like all other Police and Crime Commissioners, Julia has a duty to help ensure an effective and efficient local criminal justice system.

At the end of 2016, Julia took up the Chair of North Yorkshire’s Local Criminal Justice Board. Since then, Julia has restructured the work of the Board to provide a sharper focus on local performance and to encourage innovation. Together with partners, the Board’s broad aims are to improve services for victims and witnesses and reduce re-offending.
