I write in connection with your request for information that was received by the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire (OPFCC) 20 February 2023.

I note you seek access to the following information:  

I understand that the police and fire service leaders are having to do compulsory diversity training. The course is run by an external agency. As a tax payer how much has this cost.

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information 

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within the OPFCC.

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by the OPFCC.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.

Provider details for DEI training:

Contract price and duration:

  • £211,500.00 + VAT. Contract commenced 13.06.22 and was provisionally for 12 months, which is now due renewal. The programme is due to run until December 2023, which is included in this cost

  • Leaders module 1 learning outcomes:
  • Welcome and Icebreaker Discussion
  • The 7Cs of Inclusive Leadership
  • Discrimination / Inclusion Continuum
  • Exploring Microaggressions and their impact
  • The Neuroscience behind Bias, Attitudes and Behaviours
  • Exploring and Disproving our own Stereotypes and Bias
  • Giving and Receiving Constructive Feedback
  • Positively dealing with Bias and Microaggressions
  • Learning Review and Next Steps
  • Leaders module 2 learning outcomes:
  • Continuation of the above along with covering the remaining 7C’s of Inclusive Leadership
  • 1498 delegates have attended training to date (across both modules) – training is ongoing
