I write in connection with your request for information that was received by the Office of the Police,
Fire and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire (OPFCC) on 11 April 2024

Question/ Request:
There is evidence that various short term /holiday lets in York have been used as brothels. Please
provide the following information:
1. For each of the last 4 years how many cases have been reported/recorded. Which wards?
2. The action taken and outcome.
3. What efforts (if any) have been taken to publicise this dangerous criminal activity so as ensure
citizens are alert and aware? Please provide the recorded information ( press releases, social media
etc) to support such assertions.
4. What is the policy on this illegal activity / please provide recorded information.

Answer/ Response:
I wish to advise you that there is no information held by the OPFCC in order to answer your request.
This is because the information is held by North Yorkshire Police and not the OPFCC.
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within the OPFCC.
