I write in connection with your request for information that was received by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, Policing, Fire and Crime Directorate (PFC) on 14 September 2026

Request:

Police Officers who eventually attended an incident in Whitby confirmed that the North Yorkshire Police communications had experienced a complete outage that afternoon.

Please confirm what is being done to ensure the resilience of North Yorkshire Police communications systems in order that communities are not left unable to call Police in the event of an emergency.
