‘No’ to Northallerton Court Closure
Julia has today submitted her response to the Ministry of Justice’s consultation on the future of Northallerton court. This follows a face-to-face meeting with Minister Lucy Frazer QC in London, at which Julia set out her concerns, as well as discussed ideas for the future.
Commenting on the plans, she said:
“The proposals are not suitable for North Yorkshire, especially at this time. I have suggested that instead North Yorkshire’s Local Criminal Justice Board should be empowered to look at how justice could be delivered in our area, ensuring rural communities are not disadvantaged and that we harness the opportunities presented by new technology.”
