December update from the Youth Commission
Hey guys,
With Christmas nearing and the New Year looming upon us we thought we should let you know what we have been up to this wintery month! Well, it’s been a lot quieter on the workshop front, but our visits to Askham Bryan on Hate Crime, and Abusive Relationships, Colburn Youth Group about Abusive Relationships and Selby College on Drugs and Alcohol and Missing Young People and Exploitation, really made an impact and we got some fabulous feedback from the youths we met there – especially Drugs and Alcohol as we had recently had our sub-group with the Police in York on the topic which came in handy when doing the workshops!
Behind the scenes the Youth Commission have been ticking away preparing for all sorts. Jade has been busy planning out our next members meeting, making sure we are prepared for the Big Conversation and reflecting upon our time at the commission. Charlotte has been working on our advert scripts making them shorter and snappier to grab people’s attention she has also been organising filming dates and gathering up members to be the stars of the show!
In an attempt to make the North Yorkshire Youth Commission more prominent in certain areas, we are working on an article for York Press encompassing the aims of the project, why we joined and what we hope to gain – when we know when it is released we will let you know! And finally, as the big day for the Big Conversation draws nearer, our administrator and coordinator have been pulling together invites for the day to make sure all our hard work and dedication gets communicated to the right people, our last members meeting before this date will ensure we communicate the information correctly.
I’m not sure about you, but I think it is all coming together pretty well, and we can’t wait to hear more of your views in the New Year!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
