Policing Minister meets North Yorkshire Leaders to hear how they tackle rural and wildlife crime

Today, York and North Yorkshire Deputy Mayor Jo Coles, joined Policing Minister, Dame Diana Johnson, Chief Constable Tim Forber and colleagues from the North Yorkshire Police Rural Taskforce, NFU,NFU Mutual, National Rural Crime Unit, Construction Equipment Association and National Wildlife Crime Unit.

They discussed how crimes such as hare coursing and thefts of farm machinery impact on our farming and rural communities across York and North Yorkshire.

The new Government’s announcements of additional investment for policing will enable us to do more to keep all our communities safe.

The new York and North Yorkshire Police and Crime plans will be published in the next few weeks and will include more details about how work in this area will be developed over the next four years.
