Julia welcomes raptor prosecution success
Commenting on the successful conviction, Julia Mulligan, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire and Chair of the National Rural Crime Network, said:
“This conviction shows the importance of having a dedicated Rural Taskforce and the value they bring to ensuring the perpetrators of crimes, no matter how remote the location or difficult the case is to prove, are held accountable for their actions.
“North Yorkshire Police is already leading the way in tackling the persecution of birds of prey in our countryside through Operation Owl. This case proves that by working with partners like the RSPB, we can disrupt offender activity, catch criminals in the act and bring justice for crimes that are notoriously difficult to prosecute successfully.”
