On Wednesday 7 June Commissioner Zoë Metcalfe, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire and York will be in Ripon to meet residents and business owners to hear about any community issues they may have.

Commissioner Zoë and members of her team will be at Morrisons on Harrogate Road, Ripon, HG4 2RU from 10.00am until 1.00pm.

Commissioner Zoë is the link between the public and the police and fire and rescue service – to make sure they do a good job on the public’s  behalf.

It is Zoë’s job to ensure community needs are met as effectively as possible, by setting objectives through her Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan.

She is supported by the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, who help her with public engagement and scrutiny of the police and fire services and in providing a wide range of services to help victims to cope and recover.

Commissioner Zoë and her team will also be joined by members from Ripon based Jennyruth Workshops who have made wooden “Test it Tuesday” smoke alarm testers to help people reach their smoke alarms to ensure they are working. The smoke alarm testers are designed to be stored in the kitchen utensil draw and on other days of the week can be used for cooking.

The smoke alarm testers are being used by the Commissioner’s Office to raise awareness about fire safety in the home.
