DN 03-28-03/2023 Date 28.03.23
Fleet Telematics – North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
The Commissioner has decided to approve investment in the purchase of a telematics capability for the Fire and Rescue Service fleet.
Background
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service currently has no telematics capability, which impairs the efficient management of the fleet. The lack of factual information complicates fleet planning and alignment with key strategic priorities such as the Risk and Resource Model.
To support the delivery of the fleet strategy, a fleet telematics solution will be purchased and implemented across the vehicle fleet. This will deliver benefits including improved value for money, achieved through more proactive servicing of vehicles due to the availability of real time mileage, and the more efficient and effective use of vehicles.
An initial investment of around £66,000 will be required to fund the purchase and installation of a telematics solution, alongside a recurring revenue investment of around £21,500 per year.
Decision Record
The Commissioner has decided to invest around £66,000 to fund the purchase and installation of a telematics solution for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, alongside a recurring revenue investment of around £21,500 per year for the ongoing support of the system.
