DN 08/2019: Chief Fire Officer – Chief Fire Officer Appointment

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has decided to appoint Andrew Brodie as Chief Fire Officer of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. This decision has been confirmed by the Police, Fire and Crime Panel for North Yorkshire and York.

Background

On Thursday 18 July 2019, the Commissioner proposed Andrew Brodie to the Police, Fire and Crime Panel as her preferred candidate for Chief Fire Officer after a robust recruitment process.

The Panel confirmed at that meeting their support for Andrew Brodie as Chief Fire Officer.

The report of the Panel and the Commissioner’s response are published alongside this Decision Notice.

The Commissioner duly appoints Andrew Brodie as Chief Fire Officer for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, on the terms and conditions advertised.

The Commissioner’s Chief Finance Officer and S151 Officer has advised that the terms of the proposed appointment are affordable within the PFCC FRA budget and delivers a savings against the costs of the previous permanent Chief Fire Officer terms.
