Policing in Sherburn in Elmnet

Information not held

Our Ref: NY8916

Date: 08 January 2024

Freedom of information request reference no: NY8916

I write in connection with your request for information that was received by the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire (OPFCC) on 06 January 2024.

Question/ Request:

Us, the residents of Sherburn in Elmnet are currently suffering a spate of house and car burglaries with very little assistance from your police officers.

Actions are as ever reactive not proactive. We rarely see a Police Officer. Rare sightings in police vehicles and on foot they are extinct.

We are told that police numbers have increased? We see no one. Whilst on the other hand building and the size of Sherburn continues to increase.

So I guess the questions are;

  1. What is the percentage increase of police officers and how many extra are dispatched around Sherburn?
  2. Of reported burglaries in the past year, how many were (a) investigated, (b) solved?
  3. How many crimes in total, of any description, reported in Sherburn or the surrounding villages, were (a) investigated (b) solved? and; 4. How many crimes had no follow up action other than a crime number issued?

If you see fit to refuse answering these questions, the answers that will be published for the Sherburn residents, can you please in your reply inform me of your process for FOI applications.

Lastly, is the police station in Sherburn actually manned, active, open? We see vehicles but never an officer?
