I write in connection with your request for information that was received by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, Policing, Fire and Crime Directorate (PFC) 16th December 2025.

Question:

I would like to request the following information regarding the public consultation surveys asking how much more taxpayers would be prepared to pay for police and fire services in North Yorkshire:

  • The total cost incurred to prepare, publish, and analyse the results of the survey conducted for the 2025/2026 precept setting process
  • A detailed breakdown of these costs, including expenses for:
  • Developing the survey materials.
  • Hosting the online survey (e.g., website costs).
  • Conducting any independent telephone surveys or street interviews.
  • Printing and distributing paper leaflets/surveys.
  •  Analysing the collected data and publishing the final results.

 

Answer:

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within the PFC.

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by the PFC.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.

The total cost incurred to prepare, publish, and analyse the results of the survey conducted for the 2025/2026 precept setting process.

The only costs in addition to employee staff time were for promotional advertising and printing of leaflets  – all within a budget of £300.

 

A detailed breakdown of these costs, including expenses for:

Developing the survey materials.

No additional costs. All developed in-house.

Hosting the online survey (e.g., website costs).

No additional hosting costs.

Conducting any independent telephone surveys or street interviews.

Online survey hosted in-house, paper copies available on request.

No independent telephone surveys or street interviews commissioned.

Street interviews and in person engagement conducted by employees.

Printing and distributing paper leaflets/surveys.

Printing of leaflets/surveys, as well as promotional advertising undertaken within a total budget of £300.

Analysing the collected data and publishing the final results.

No additional costs. All undertaken in-house.
