Superintendents provided with vehicles but front line officers struggle to source patrol cars.

I write in connection with your request for information that was received by the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire (OPFCC) on 25 January 2024.

Question/ Request:

Please could I ask you why superintendents are provided with a vehicle yet front line officers struggle to source patrol vans and cars?

Historically I understand this was because superintendents were crime SIOs or firearms incident managers however these functions have been reduced to inspectors and above? No other force provides vehicles to superintendents and it feels like an unnecessary cost when it is publicly known the response vehicle fleet is in such a poor state?

Recently you have also advertised or promoted that you have increased your force incident numbers to 10. West Yorkshire have half that number. 5 full time fims, with a resilience cadre. Nyp moving to 10 seems more of an inefficiency?

I wish to advise you that there is no information held by the OPFCC in order to answer your request.

This is because the information is held by North Yorkshire Police and not the OPFCC.
