This month’s meeting will be chaired by Police and Crime Commissioner Julia Mulligan and Acting Chief Constable Tim Madgwick to monitor progress against the Police and Crime Plan – the document which sets out the priority areas of action, based on consultation with the public.
This meeting will look at how the police are progressing with Police and Crime Plan – Priority three Prevention and early intervention By identifying problems early and working closely with partners, it is possible to reduce the number of incidents as well as threat, risk and harm to individuals and communities. To do this well the police need to work closely with public and third sector partners. The result will be less crime to deal with, more time to spend on serious crimes, and the ability to work within dwindling resources.
The Objectives under ‘Prevention and Early Intervention’ are:
- Focus on children and young people – 69% public support
- Tackle drugs and alcohol – 69% public support
- Improve engagement and education – 46% public support
Questions received from the public that relate to the agenda and are received in advance of the meeting, will be addressed by the Board during a 15 minute period at the beginning of the meeting.
Questions received from the public via Twitter using #NYPscrutiny and that relate to items discussed during the meeting will be answered at the end of the meeting.
