“We’re so lucky to have such dedicated public servants keeping us safe” #StormCiara

Following Storm Ciara, North Yorkshire’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has written to all within North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to thank them for their efforts.

Julia Mulligan said:

“It has been a hugely busy weekend for you all so I just wanted to say thank you for all your efforts.

“I know that the range and scale of incidents like those we had yesterday are some of the hardest to deal with – unpredictable, fast moving and dangerous.

“As always though, you show why we’re so lucky to have such dedicated public servants keeping us safe – from the control room staff dealing with large volumes of calls, to the on call retained and wholetime firefighters on the front line of the floods, to the police officers, PCSOs and special constables supporting them to protect our communities.

“Days like this are hard, their impact long-lasting, but they prove yet again that in the most challenging of circumstances you are the people who head away from safety, towards the floods and that undoubtedly saves lives.

“Thank you.”
