Money for policing – how it’s spent 2016/17

North Yorkshire is one of the safest places to live in England and, as your Police and Crime Commissioner, I am determined to keep it that way. In a public survey I carried out recently, seven out of ten respondents said they would prefer to increase the amount paid towards the police in our council tax. This reflects the high levels of confidence in our force, which does a good job and needs our support. This is why I have decided to increase the amount we all pay by 1.99 per cent. This will mean the average household will pay an extra 8p a week during 2016/17.
