- Tuesday 26 March – Pre-election period starts
- Thursday 2 May – Polling day
- Friday 3 May – Election count – To be confirmed
- Tuesday 7 May – Mayor takes up office – To be confirmed
- Tuesday 7 May 2024 – Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service transfer to the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
