Item 6 Public questions

David – Richmond – PCSOs

I would like to know why PCSOs are never seen in Richmond. They are meant to provide I highly visible presence in our communities. How many hours of foot patrol do they carry out a week? If you don’t know this, why do you not know this? And why are you failing to ensure they provide this presence in our communities since a large part of the police budget is allocated to PCSOs.

Tony – Ripon – ASB

What is being done to address the issue of anti social behaviour in Ripon, e-bikes, recent assaults etc? One of the obvious issues is a lack of resource and visible policing.

Dale – York – Learning Outcomes

The HMIC report covering anti-corruption and integrity arrangements at North Yorkshire police published in January 25 highlighted that the organisational learning board did not integrate learning outcomes from PSD investigations into these reviews or keep track of learning outcomes stemming from these.

In particular where learning outcomes from PSD investigations give your force the chance to improve how it handles serious crime including domestic/sexual violence, it is clearly within the public interest to implement these outcomes to make meaningful change where necessary.

How are North Yorkshire Police planning to show that they implement learning outcomes identified from PSD investigations in an auditable and transparent form, such that they reinforce public trust to show that they try to improve internal processes and ultimately improve services for victims and the public, as a result of public complaints?

Graham – Selby – Police Presence

Why are North Yorkshire Police officers exempt from Selby on a Friday and Saturday after 5pm when this is when the town needs to see them.

Deborah – Sherburn in Elmet – Dangerous Driving

What are the police doing about the amount of cars going to and from the Motorist, on Lennerton lane Sherburn in Elmet driving dangerously, speeding doing doughnuts wheel spinning and general antisocial driving? Apparently according to the last PCSO that came out, they can not do anything as they are attending a legal car meet. On Saturday 11th October in 25mins I counted 35 cars with either no front number plate or illegal number plates.

Jack – Selby – ASB

As the nights draw in and the weather becomes colder in Selby we seem to have a higher rate of ASB. Last year was particularly bad with fireworks being fired at shop staff in Abbey Walk and youths climbing on roofs in the town putting themselves and others in danger. We also have groups congregating on market place riding electric scooters and bikes dangerously that seems to be getting worse.
