Item 6 Public questions
Andy – Ulleskelf – Speed Cameras
Why are the camera vans mainly deployed to open rural areas in 60mph zones miles away from any residential area rather than villages that experience excessive speeds in 30mph zones?
Bob – York – Speed Cameras
Why do we not have many more ANPR/speed cameras?
Locally we voted in favour a 20mph limit but it is not enforced. Speed cameras would deter speeding and could also deter illegal right turns.
I think the public are unhappy with perpetrators “getting away” with breaking the law and this would be an (ultimately) cost neutral way of addressing that disquiet.
Alec– Skipton– Road Safety
Concerns around dangerous and anti-social driving around Skipton – including speeding, popping exhausts, running red lights and pedestrian crossings being ignored.
Requesting for safety cameras to be used within the town.
Also concerned around anti-social behaviour in the bus station which had led to busses not using the stop.
